أعلن مكتب مراقبة الأصول الأجنبية (OFAC) التابع لوزارة الخزانة الأمريكية عن فرض عقوبات على شبكتين لغسيل الأموال مرتبطتين بعصابة سينالوا للمخدرات، وتضم العقوبات أكثر من اثني عشر فرداً وكياناً. وتُتهم إحدى الشبكات بتحويل النقد الناتج عن بيع الفنتانيل ومخدرات أخرى إلى عملات مشفرة وتحويلها إلى أعضاء رفيعي المستوى في عصابة سينالوا في المكسيك.
ذكر مكتب مراقبة الأصول الأجنبية (OFAC) أن الشبكة قامت بغسيل الأموال من خلال جمع النقد داخل الولايات المتحدة، وتحويلات العملات المشفرة، وعبر وسطاء مكسيكيين مرتبطين بفصيل "لوس تشابيتوس". يخضع فصيل "لوس تشابيتوس" لسيطرة إيفان وألفردو غوزمان سالازار، ابني "إل تشابو" غوزمان. ومن بين الأفراد الخاضعين للعقوبات أرماندو دي خيسوس أوخيدا أفيليس، المشتبه بكونه المسؤول عن شبكة غسيل الأموال، وخيسوس غونزاليس بينويلاس، وهو قيادي آخر في منظمة لتهريب المخدرات وغسيل الأموال.
أشار مكتب مراقبة الأصول الأجنبية (OFAC) إلى أن المنظمة تجمع مبالغ نقدية كبيرة في الولايات المتحدة، وتستبدلها بعملات مشفرة، ثم تعيد إرسالها إلى المكسيك. وبموجب هذه العقوبات، سيتم تجميد أصول الأفراد والكيانات المعنية داخل الولايات المتحدة، كما سيُحظر على المواطنين الأمريكيين
