Según la agencia reguladora, estas solicitudes de fondos cotizados al contado requieren más tiempo de revisión para determinar si cumplen con los estándares necesarios. De acuerdo con las leyes de valores estadounidenses, los productos de bolsa deben ajustarse a normativas que aseguren la protección de los inversores y garanticen la transparencia del mercado. Por lo tanto, los productos propuestos para cotizar en la bolsa NYSE Arca deberán esperar. Mientras se aplazaba la decisión sobre estos ETF, la SEC también anunció la apertura de comentarios públicos sobre otros productos, entre los que se incluye el ETF de Bitcoin de BlackRock con modelo de canje. Los ETF de criptomonedas han sido uno de los temas más debatidos del mundo financiero, especialmente durante la era Gensler al frente del organismo. Si los ETF de Solana y Litecoin reciben aprobación tras este período de revisión extendido, brindarían a los inversores bursátiles exposición directa a estos tokens. Actualmente, las carteras institucionales de Wall Street solo tienen acceso a dos criptomonedas mediante ETF: Bitcoin y Ethereum. De concretarse, ambos productos comenzarían a cotizar en el mercado bursátil estadounidense. Según las apuestas en la plataforma de predicción Polymarket, las probabilidades de que un fondo spot de Solana sea aprobado en 2025 son muy altas. De hecho, el 82% de los participantes cree que la SEC dará luz verde antes de fin de año. En la misma línea, el 79% apuesta por la aprobación de un ETF de Litecoin durante 2025. Cabe destacar que Litecoin es una de las monedas con mayores probabilidades reales de aprobación, debido a su estrecha similitud técnica con Bitcoin. Como uno de los primeros hard forks de la blockchain de BTC, se lo considera una commodity, lo que facilita su clasificación regulatoria. Firmas financieras de gran peso como Grayscale, Fidelity y BlackRock lideran el proceso de incorporación de criptomonedas a los portafolios institucionales. Esta tendencia no es casual: responde a la creciente demanda de exposición cripto por parte de los grandes fondos. Con el avance de la administración Trump, se espera que ese interés aumente aún más en los próximos años. Por eso, los reguladores están siendo especialmente cautelosos antes de aprobar ETF como los de Solana y Litecoin.
