Goldman Sachs ha aceptado pagar una multa civil de 1,45 millones de dólares para resolver los señalamientos realizados por la Autoridad Reguladora de la Industria Financiera (FINRA, por sus siglas en inglés) sobre graves imprecisiones en sus reportes de operaciones. La gran firma de Wall Street fue objeto de escrutinio después de que errores en sus sistemas provocaran un reporte equivocado de miles de millones de transacciones bursátiles al sistema CAT (Consolidated Audit Trail), una plataforma centralizada destinada a ayudar a los reguladores a supervisar la actividad en los mercados financieros. Errores de codificación y fallos en los reportes Según el informe emitido por FINRA, fallos en los procesos de codificación de Goldman Sachs resultaron en la generación de reportes incorrectos para aproximadamente 36,6 mil millones de transacciones. Además, durante los meses de octubre y noviembre de 2021, un fallo técnico provocó interrupciones adicionales en sus reportes. Durante este período, la empresa creó de forma incorrecta 90,8 millones de memorandos de órdenes, reportó de manera errónea 6,9 millones de operaciones y emitió más de 372.000 confirmaciones de transacciones incorrectas. Asimismo, la compañía reportó por error 98.322 operaciones que no debieron haber sido informadas. El futuro de Google depende de una «ruptura total», según analista FINRA subrayó que estos problemas también revelaron fallos en los mecanismos de supervisión de Goldman Sachs. Aunque el acuerdo alcanzado aborda estos señalamientos, el banco no admitió ni desmintió culpabilidad en el caso. Goldman Sachs resolvió el caso con el pago de la multa de 1,45 millones de dólares, pero hasta el momento no ha emitido comentarios públicos sobre el asunto.
