Según Forbes, el secretario del Tesoro de EE. UU., Scott Bessent, declaró que el Departamento del Tesoro ha congelado casi $500 millones en activos de criptomonedas relacionados con el régimen iraní, incluidos $344 millones congelados el mes pasado.
El informe señala que Irán controla actualmente cerca de $7,700 millones en activos digitales y utiliza BTC para liquidar pagos de seguros de transporte marítimo a través del estrecho de Ormuz.
Estados Unidos está intensificando su ofensiva contra las actividades de criptomonedas de Irán para cortar sus canales de evasión de sanciones y transferencia de fondos.
