دفتر کنترل داراییهای خارجی (OFAC) وزارت خزانهداری ایالات متحده، تحریمهایی را علیه دو شبکه پولشویی مرتبط با کارتل مواد مخدر سینالوآ که شامل بیش از دوازده فرد و نهاد میشود، اعلام کرد. یکی از این شبکهها متهم است که پول نقد حاصل از فروش فنتانیل و سایر مواد مخدر را به رمزارز تبدیل کرده و آن را برای اعضای بلندپایه کارتل سینالوآ در مکزیک ارسال میکرده است.
OFAC اعلام کرد که این شبکه از طریق جمعآوری پول نقد در ایالات متحده، انتقال رمزارز و دلالان مکزیکی مرتبط با جناح «لوس چاپیتوس» (Los Chapitos) اقدام به پولشویی میکرده است. «لوس چاپیتوس» توسط ایوان و آلفردو گوزمان سالازار، پسران «ال چاپو» گوزمان، کنترل میشود. افراد تحریمشده شامل آرماندو د خسوس اوخدا آویلس، که مظنون به مسئولیت در این شبکه پولشویی است، و خسوس گونزالس پنیولاس، یکی دیگر از رهبران یک سازمان قاچاق مواد مخدر و پولشویی، هستند.
