BlockBeats News, 2 gennaio, Ari Redbord, Global Head of Policy and Government Affairs presso la società di analisi delle criptovalute TRM Labs, ha sottolineato: "Il 2025 è un anno record per gli attacchi con chiave inglese", con circa 60 casi segnalati durante l'anno che hanno preso di mira i possessori di criptovalute. Questo numero è significativamente più alto del precedente record nel 2024 (circa 41 casi) e nel 2021 (36 casi). Mentre il vero numero di attacchi con la chiave inglese è difficile da quantificare con precisione, il rischio per le vittime sta aumentando, o almeno la consapevolezza pubblica di tali minacce sta aumentando.
"Il numero effettivo può essere molto più alto di questo", ha aggiunto Redbord, "Molti casi sono registrati solo come semplici rapine o furti con scasso, con l'elemento criptovaluta ignorato; mentre altri non vengono mai segnalati perché le vittime esitano o dubitano della capacità delle forze dell'ordine di affrontare i crimini correlati alle criptovalute".
"Attacchi chiave", questo tipo di rischi per la sicurezza informatica prendono il nome da un concetto: anche le più sofisticate misure di crittografia e sicurezza dei dati possono essere minate dalla coercizione fisica, come in uno scenario minacciato da una "chiave a cinque dollari".
