Як повідомляє Bitcoin.com, Високий суд Віндгука (Намібія) скасував заставу для 8 обвинувачених, які не з'явилися до суду у справі про шахрайство з криптовалютою та торгівлю людьми, і конфіскував близько 29 800 доларів США. Обвинувачення заявило, що серед 8 осіб — 6 громадян Китаю, 1 громадянин Вануату та 1 громадянин Сінгапуру, причому 6 підозрюваних китайців було виявлено в Китаї. Влада Намібії звернулася до Інтерполу по допомогу в їхньому розшуку.
Злочинна група діяла під прикриттям компанії Raylon Investments з грудня 2022 року по жовтень 2023 року. Групу підозрюють у вербуванні безробітних громадян Намібії та примусовій праці. За даними уряду, працівників змушували створювати фейкові акаунти в соціальних мережах від імені жінок з Європи та США, щоб залучати іноземних жертв до романтичних стосунків. Після встановлення довіри жертв переконували переказувати гроші на криптовалютні рахунки, контрольовані злочинною групою. Слідчі оцінюють суму, викрадену у жертв по всьому світу, приблизно у 267 800 доларів США.
