Secondo la CNBC, James Comer, presidente della Commissione per la vigilanza e la riforma del governo della Camera, ha avviato un'indagine sulle piattaforme di mercati di previsione Kalshi e Polymarket, richiedendo a entrambe le società di spiegare le misure adottate per prevenire l'insider trading, inclusa la verifica dell'identità, l'applicazione di restrizioni geografiche e i meccanismi di monitoraggio delle operazioni anomale. Comer ha dichiarato che i registri interni delle piattaforme interessate costituiscono prove fondamentali per identificare gli operatori scorretti e determinare se le piattaforme stiano adempiendo ai propri obblighi legali.
In precedenza, era stato segnalato che Polymarket presentava operazioni sospette relative a eventi statunitensi riguardanti l'Iran e il Venezuela; anche Kalshi aveva sospeso gli account di tre candidati al Congresso che scommettevano sui risultati della propria elezione sulla piattaforma. Comer ha richiesto a entrambe le società di presentare i documenti pertinenti entro il 5 giugno.
