An employee at the David nursing home in Mar del Plata was fired and charged with minor injuries after being recorded assaulting a resident. The incident occurred on Monday, July 27, around 7 PM. The nursing home authorities reported the incident and handed over the recordings to the authorities. The accused, Nicolás Gastón Cichero, was filmed while feeding two women in wheelchairs. When one of them tried to eat on her own, Cichero abruptly lowered her arm and demanded that she open her mouth, forcing her to ingest the food with violent movements and hitting her with a spoon, causing a cut. The assault continued in a room, where the caregiver violently moved her and directed insults and threats at her, such as "Why don’t you just die?" and "I’ll break your head." The woman sustained abrasions on her face. The case was classified as "minor injuries" and is under the jurisdiction of the Functional Instruction and Trial Unit. The Scientific Police also conducted an evidence survey. Authorities are reviewing the conditions of the nursing home and could impose sanctions if irregularities are detected.
