Cryptocurrency Mining Using Ocean Energy

Cryptocurrency mining is considered one of the directions for utilizing ocean energy, which humanity has yet to learn to apply effectively. Alexander Osadchiev, a leading researcher at the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, reported several options for working with this natural resource. One of them involves generating energy for immediate use in cryptocurrency mining, while another focuses on producing liquefied hydrogen from water. Osadchiev noted that tidal power plants require significant investments and remain questionable in terms of the relevance of cryptocurrency in 10 years. Theoretically, energy can be converted into cryptocurrency, but practical application requires solving a number of complex tasks. The ocean has enormous energy potential; however, its development is hindered by the destructive force of natural processes and the lack of reliable energy storage solutions.
