AI writing startup Marker has completed a $13 million seed funding round, led by Index Ventures with participation from Local Globe. Co-founded by former DeepMind creative lead, Marker has emerged from stealth mode. Angel investors involved include Writely co-founder Steve Newman, Slack co-founder Cal Henderson, and Thomas Wolf from Hugging Face. Early users of Marker have utilized the platform to write blog posts, Substack newsletters, business documents, memos, and novels. CEO Steinback stated that this is a critical moment for people to choose the future of writing, emphasizing the importance of selecting solutions that value writing techniques over low-quality content.
