Bitcoin institutional demand difficult to assess through ETF flows

Bitcoin institutional demand is increasingly challenging to evaluate solely through spot BTC ETF flows. Investment channels for institutions are expanding beyond spot ETFs to include yield-generating options products, bitcoin-backed loans, and structured credit products, suggesting that outflows from ETFs may be redirected to other investment vehicles. Ledn CEO Adam Reeds noted that investors using BTC as collateral can implement strategies that are neutral to short-term price fluctuations, complicating the assessment of institutional demand via ETFs. He also highlighted that as leverage in the market rises, forced selling could increase among positions that reach liquidation thresholds, indicating potential liquidation risks associated with the growth of the collateralized lending market.
