Bitumen Imports to Ukraine Fell by 44% in August
In August, bitumen imports to Ukraine decreased by 44% compared to July, totaling 25,000 tons, which is 19% less than in the same period last year. The decline is attributed to the completion of major road surface restoration works by the end of summer. The second phase of road repairs, which will last until the end of October, will require smaller volumes of materials. Logistic risks in the south also affected the import volume, which in August was sourced from only three countries compared to five in July. Romania became the main supplier of bitumen in August with a volume of 12,400 tons, which is 16% less than in July. Other suppliers included Vitaro Energy - 8,700 tons, Socar - 1,700 tons, and OMV Petrom - 1,500 tons. Supplies from Lithuania decreased from 12,300 tons to 6,700 tons, while imports from Poland fell by 38% to 5,800 tons. In August, 22 companies imported bitumen, with the three largest accounting for 76% of the supplies: "Agrodon Trade" - 11,600 tons, JSC "Energo Trade" - 5,800 tons, and "Martin Trade" - 1,500 tons. Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has imported 214,000 tons of bitumen, which is twice as much as in the same period last year.
