Cassandra Thompson Arrested for Drugging and Stealing 84,000 USD in Miami

Cassandra Thompson was arrested in Miami after being accused of drugging and stealing over 84,000 USD from a man in Brickell. The crime occurred in December 2024, when the woman, after meeting the victim at a restaurant, invited him to her apartment. There, she prepared a vodka drink for him, which he consumed, losing consciousness shortly after. While the man was unconscious, Thompson accessed his phone and stole 72,800 USD in cryptocurrencies and 1,225 USD via Venmo, in addition to 10,000 USD in cash. When the victim woke up, he found his phone missing and the door ajar. Police identified Thompson through security footage and tracking of the stolen phone, which led them to New York. The arrest warrant was issued following collaboration between the victim and authorities, and was executed on July 26, 2026, when Thompson arrived at Miami International Airport. The investigation revealed that the substance used to incapacitate the victim has not been identified, but it allowed the accused to quickly take large sums. Part of the digital transfers was blocked by Coinbase, but most was withdrawn before the fraud was detected. Evidence includes security videos and financial transaction records.
