Coinbase (COIN) is seeing market attention shift from earnings figures to the outlook for the second half of the year and changes in the regulatory environment ahead of its Q2 earnings announcement. The cryptocurrency market showed weakness in Q2, with Bitcoin (BTC) down approximately 14% and Ethereum (ETH) down about 25%. Major brokerage firms estimate Coinbase's Q2 trading volume at $152 billion, which is below the market expectation of $178 billion. Clear Street anticipates a trading volume of $160 billion and an EBITDA of $310 million, while Benchmark has lowered its EBITDA estimate to $377 million. Coinbase continues to rely heavily on trading fees and is pushing for business diversification. Subscription and service revenues are less sensitive to trading volume fluctuations, providing a defensive role for earnings. New growth areas such as 'prediction markets' and derivatives are gaining attention, and changes in the regulatory environment could impact the company's valuation. As of the 30th, Coinbase's stock price was $165, down approximately 1.7% from the previous day.
