Cryptocurrency Sector Invests 60 Million Dollars in U.S. Elections
The cryptocurrency sector is investing millions in election campaigns to gain influence in Washington. Political groups around Fairshake have reported over 60 million dollars in independent election spending for the midterm elections on November 3. These expenditures have been registered by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and cover the period from January 2025 to August 2026. Defend American Jobs reported approximately 32.5 million dollars, while Protect Progress spent about 27.6 million dollars. The money goes to independent campaigns and not directly to candidates. Both organizations are super PACs that run campaigns to support or oppose candidates without giving money directly to them. Fairshake supports candidates who promote technological innovation, aiming to create a clearer legal framework for blockchain companies. The spending by the cryptocurrency sector highlights their attempt to increase political influence, which is crucial for future regulations that could affect their activities.
