CZ Year-End Q&A: Cryptocurrency is the Only Choice for AI and Robots, Market Size Still Has Several Orders of Magnitude Growth Potential, Many Opportunities Ahead
BlockBeats News, December 18, Binance founder CZ shared insights during today's year-end Q&A session on how he manages his personal work focus, his views on BNB Chain and the future development of the crypto market, how to assess key trends and milestones in the space, as well as his personal advice on entrepreneurship and investment focus.
CZ stated that currently Giggle Academy, YZi Labs, the BNB ecosystem, and driving national cryptocurrency adoption are the four things he spends most of his time on. BNB Chain has seen significant growth this year, with the annual trading volume increasing by about 600% and daily active users surpassing 2 million. CZ believes that BNB Chain just needs to continue building value for true builders. The scale of the BNB ecosystem should surpass any single business within the ecosystem in the future—this includes centralized exchanges and various protocols.
Like other industry leaders, CZ also highly praised the stablecoin space and believes that a "better" stablecoin has yet to emerge on a large scale. "The market space is huge, and I believe what we are seeing now is just stablecoin 1.0. More advanced stablecoins have not been widely introduced yet; we are just getting started. What we are seeing now is stablecoin 1.5, such as FDUSD and USD1."
Regarding the few emerging tracks in this bull market cycle, such as the "prediction market," CZ stated that he currently cannot determine which project will come out on top. However, the winner in the next hot event can temporarily gain an advantage for their project. "The next highly anticipated event should be next year's U.S. presidential election (midterm elections), right? I think, at that time, the team that can stay on full-time standby and be unwavering is likely to win, at least in the short term. It will be a very interesting phase that requires the team's full dedication. But real victory is achieved through long-term competition."
AI and robots are the focus of attention in the U.S. stock market and even the global tech sector, and CZ believes that both will be closely linked to cryptocurrency. "I expect that in the future, artificial intelligence and robots will be widely used with cryptocurrency. Currently not yet, but in the end, they will—it's not like there's another choice." However, when discussing AI Agent trading products, CZ did not express optimism, as he believes that if AI Agent is indeed viable, the project team would not easily sell it to users but would use it themselves. In a zero-sum game of the capital market, if everyone uses the same AI strategy, it will ultimately lead to minimal or even ineffective results. "If everyone in the market is using it, then it's not as effective. However, overall, I do think that AI will indeed be widely used by traders in their own unique ways."
Referring to investment in early-stage projects, CZ stated that he personally prefers to support long-term mission-driven builders. He mentioned, "Adapting the product based on market demand is good, but if you completely change direction every three months, it means you don't truly love something." In the context of continuously changing market demands, the team's execution ability is the most crucial thing CZ looks at when investing in projects. For entrepreneurs, there is no fixed formula for success, and the path to success is diverse. "There are still many opportunities in the future."
Despite the recent industry downturn or re-entry into a bear market, when it comes to the development of the crypto field, CZ stated that everything is still in the early stages, with significant room for growth. He said, "I believe the current adoption rate of cryptocurrency is still only in the single digits — depending on whether we calculate it by the number of people or by total wealth. If we calculate it based on existing wealth, the penetration rate may be less than 1%. I think there is still room for cryptocurrency to grow by several orders of magnitude."
