Democratic Senator Angela Alsobrooks Opposes White House Proposal on Clarity Act Ethical Provisions

By: rootdata|2026/07/22 01:54:05

Democratic Senator Angela Alsobrooks has opposed the White House's proposal to assign the U.S. Department of Justice the responsibility of enforcing the ethical provisions of the Clarity Act, calling it a "not serious proposal." She stated that if this proposal becomes the sole enforcement mechanism, she will not support the bill. Alsobrooks emphasized her commitment to continue working towards an agreement that holds all parties accountable. She is one of the two Democratic senators pushing for the Clarity Act to be reviewed by the Senate Banking Committee and has previously stated that her support for the bill is contingent upon the inclusion of strong ethical constraints in the final text. Currently, both parties are discussing the Clarity Act on Capitol Hill, with ethical issues seen as the last barrier to compromise between them.
