Ethereum Foundation and The DAO Security Fund Fund Vyper Compiler Verification

The DAO Security Fund has partnered with the Ethereum Foundation to fund the formal verification of the Vyper compiler, with the Ethereum Foundation committing $100,000. Currently, the auditing and verification of Vyper smart contracts are limited to the source code level, while Ethereum actually executes the compiled bytecode, and the consistency between the two relies on the compiler. This project aims to ensure that the Vyper compilation process does not alter the original intent of the code through machine proofs, ultimately launching a verified compilation mode in the official Vyper compiler. The DAO Security Fund was established from unclaimed ETH from the 2016 DAO hack incident, with a scale of approximately $250 million, aimed at enhancing Ethereum's security.
