Former FBI agent Patrick Steven Yaroch is scheduled to plead guilty on November 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia for allegedly stealing approximately $1 million in digital assets. Prosecutors allege that between early 2025 and July 2026, he accessed FBI systems using his position to obtain the mnemonic phrases for cryptocurrency wallets related to counterintelligence investigations and transferred funds into personal accounts about 10 times. A Trezor hardware wallet and handwritten mnemonic phrases were found in his home, along with a Kraken account balance of approximately $188,570. Additionally, he had consulted ChatGPT on how to invest $1 million to maximize returns and how to relocate to an EU country to become a resident or citizen.
