The Finance Committee of the French National Assembly has approved a proposal to impose a tax of up to 31.4% on Bitcoin conversions to stablecoins, applicable to cases where the conversion is not made to fiat currency. Residents who move abroad with over €800,000 in crypto assets may face an exit tax on unrealized crypto asset gains. The amendment was withdrawn after the committee rejected the budget revenue portion and will need to be reintroduced during the full debate in the National Assembly. The proposal has not yet become law, and if passed, the new regulations will take effect on January 1, 2027.
