AI explainability company Goodfire has launched its research tool Silico, allowing researchers to set objectives while the tool formulates plans, runs multiple experiments, tracks progress, and organizes results. Silico can train and optimize models, reproduce papers, and identify issues in data and model design. Researchers need to review the plans, adjust directions, and assess the final outcomes. Goodfire used Silico to analyze the Kimi K3, which has a total parameter count of 2.8 trillion, identifying features that control writing style within the model and adjusting these features to have Kimi K3 respond in a "pirate tone." Silico is currently available through a macOS client, with a personal version priced at $1000 per month. Additional fees apply for using Goodfire's GPU, and users can also connect their own servers.
