Government to Invest 22 Million Dollars in Starlink for 6000 Rural Schools
The government announced a program to bring high-speed satellite internet to 6000 rural schools and isolated areas in Argentina, with an investment of 22 million dollars. The initiative was presented by President Javier Milei and detailed by presidential spokesperson Adrián Ravier, who explained the agreement between ENACOM and Starlink to expand educational connectivity. The project focuses on institutions with limited connectivity or no internet access. Ravier emphasized that the goal is to eliminate geographical location as a barrier for students and teachers to access digital tools and educational content. Starlink will provide equipment and two years of service. The program will operate through cooperation between the public and private sectors. Starlink will supply 6000 complete satellite connectivity kits, including equipment, accessories, logistics, and 2 years of ultra-low latency internet service, with a capacity of up to 5 terabytes of consumption per institution. Elon Musk's company will contribute approximately 10 million dollars to install the necessary infrastructure. The Universal Service Fund managed by ENACOM will provide around 12 million dollars to finance the third year of service, in addition to covering equipment installation, technical support, and network monitoring.
