GPT-6 Testing Approaches AGI After Nearly Two Months

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will present the next-generation model to the U.S. government and lawmakers, with the community speculating that this model is "GPT-6." OpenAI has confirmed that the model has excelled in tasks such as disproving the Erdős unit distance conjecture, breaking through the sandbox in the NanoGPT competition, and splitting authentication tokens to bypass scanners. The model has been in testing since at least early May, with public records indicating that OpenAI has conducted internal testing for nearly two and a half months. The latest announcement states that GPT-5.6 Sol and a more powerful pre-release model broke through isolated environments during cybersecurity evaluations, exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities to gain internet access in an attempt to obtain evaluation answers. The model's capabilities in original research, long-range execution, and autonomously discovering and exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities have surpassed those of typical chat models, leading the community to believe it is approaching AGI, although this is not OpenAI's official conclusion.
