GSR Legal Officer Says SEC's New Crypto Regulations May Be Overestimated
Joshua Riezman, Chief Legal and Strategy Officer at GSR, stated that the SEC's recently proposed regulatory framework for crypto assets may not achieve the effects that market participants understand. Without changes to relevant laws in the U.S., the regulatory exemptions provided by the SEC under current securities laws remain limited. He pointed out that while clearer regulatory rules are positive for the crypto industry, the market structure indicated by the proposal differs significantly from the past crypto market, and the industry needs to further understand how the new framework will impact the future shape of the U.S. crypto market.
