According to statistics from Hong Kong law enforcement, there were 25 cases of investment fraud related to online romance reported from July 24 to 30, with total losses approaching HKD 70 million. In one major online romance investment fraud case, a 50-year-old insurance worker was deceived by a romantic partner claiming to be a "car dealer" into investing in virtual currency, ultimately losing over HKD 26 million. The police remind investors to be cautious of investment opportunities recommended after establishing relationships through social platforms, especially those involving virtual currencies, promises of high returns, or transactions through unfamiliar platforms.
