IOSG report highlights fintech firms using crypto as infrastructure
Global fintech companies are increasingly utilizing cryptocurrencies as core infrastructure for payments, settlement, and financial services, according to a report by IOSG. The report compares the business strategies of major fintech firms such as Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, PayPal, and Robinhood, noting that stablecoins are becoming a crucial tool for linking traditional finance with blockchain-based finance. IOSG emphasizes that maintaining competitiveness in future financial markets will necessitate a large user base, regulatory compliance capabilities, and control over financial infrastructure. Additionally, the report predicts that DeFi is more likely to serve as infrastructure supporting existing financial products rather than being directly used by mainstream consumers.
