Iran launches missile attacks on U.S. ships, bases in retaliation

By: coinness.com|2026/08/30 23:48:10

Iran fired missiles at U.S. Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Aug. 31 and targeted two U.S. bases in Jordan, King Hussein Base and Al Azraq Base. These actions were in retaliation for a U.S. airstrike on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, as stated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The U.S. military had previously struck two IRGC missile launch sites on Larak Island. This escalation follows a pause in U.S. strikes on Iran that began on July 24 under President Donald Trump's directive. The IRGC had previously warned that the attack on Larak Island would provoke a strong response.
