Block has launched Buzz, an open source collaboration platform designed for both humans and AI agents, aiming to combine team chat from Slack with code collaboration from GitHub. Buzz offers channels, threads, direct messaging, voice, media sharing, automated workflows, and Git hosting capabilities. AI agents can join as independent members, capable of sending messages, submitting and reviewing code, and triggering workflows. The platform supports Claude Code, Codex, and goose. Buzz is based on the Nostr protocol, with all messages, workflows, and Git operations signed and recorded in a unified event log. Teams can choose to self-host or use the managed version provided by Block, with the project licensed under Apache 2.0 open source. Buzz has released clients for macOS, Windows, and Linux, but is still in the early stages, with mobile support and some workflow approval features yet to be completed.
