Jensen Huang: Semiconductor Industry Needs to Expand Tenfold in the Next Decade

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated in an interview that South Korea is in a "golden era," and its semiconductor and industrial capabilities will support the construction of global AI infrastructure. NVIDIA has reached multiple collaborations with SK Group, with business dealings in areas such as storage procurement, AI supercomputers, and data center construction expected to exceed $500 billion in the future. NVIDIA will continue to procure a large number of storage chips from SK Hynix and jointly advance the technology roadmap. SK Telecom plans to expand its AI cloud infrastructure to a maximum of 2 gigawatts, and NVIDIA will sell supercomputers to it. Huang believes that as AI entities and robots increasingly use computers, chip demand will no longer be driven solely by human users. In the next decade, the global semiconductor industry may need to expand to ten times its current size. Currently, resources for HBM storage, land, electricity, and data center construction are tight, and the industry may be capable of doubling each year, but faster expansion will be very difficult. Regarding the AI competition between China and the United States, Huang stated that both countries have excellent AI researchers, and although resources and conditions differ, they will both drive the advancement of AI technology.
