According to Bloomberg, large IPO candidates including SpaceX may have to wait several years to be included in the S&P 500 index.

The reason is that S&P Dow Jones Indices has refused to relax the criteria for inclusion of constituent stocks, maintaining the requirement for companies to achieve positive net income over the past year (including the most recent quarter). This decision was made by its index committee after a month of discussions, meaning that large newly listed companies that have not yet met the conditions for sustained profitability will still find it difficult to enter the index in the short term.
