Lee Jae-myung Calls for Increased U.S. Investment in Korean Technology

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung stated that South Korea and the United States should expand their cooperation beyond just a security alliance to include technology, innovation, and startups. He emphasized that combining U.S. venture capital capabilities with South Korea's technological strength and manufacturing competitiveness will create new global innovative enterprises. Lee called on U.S. venture capital firms to strengthen collaboration and increase investments in South Korea, promising to create an attractive investment and startup environment. He mentioned that South Korea will reform its visa system to attract overseas entrepreneurial talent and lay the foundation for establishing a cooperative system for domestic and foreign companies, research institutions, and investors. He also pledged to help South Korean startups grow into globally competitive companies by connecting privately and government-managed funds.
