Masayoshi Son Warns of AI Safety Risks
On October 4, Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank Group, expressed concerns about safety risks associated with the rapid advancement of AI capabilities during a forum in Kyoto. He pointed out that countries need to build mutual trust to jointly navigate this technology. Son spoke alongside Michael Kratsios, a technology policy advisor at the White House, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to control the threats posed by powerful AI models. He warned that if superintelligence falls into the wrong hands, it could become "super dangerous." This rare cautious statement from Son reflects growing external concerns over recent security vulnerabilities in AI models.
