Morgan Stanley's Wilson Predicts Continued Bull Market for U.S. Stocks

In the U.S. stock market, while oil prices and interest rate pressures may act as short-term adjustment factors, there are no signals indicating that the bull market has ended. Mike Wilson, Chief Investment Officer at Morgan Stanley, emphasized the need to improve the quality of portfolios. He explained that although the S&P 500 index has not undergone significant adjustments, there have been adjustments in terms of price-to-earnings ratios. He identified oil prices and interest rates as short-term risks, noting that the prices of petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel are more important than crude oil prices. He warned that if oil prices rise to $120-$140 per barrel, it could trigger a short-term adjustment. He stated that it is necessary to hold energy stocks as a hedge against rising oil prices and to prefer high-quality stocks over low-quality ones that are vulnerable to rising interest rates and oil prices. The U.S. market has a relative advantage, and the S&P 500 is still considered the highest quality stock market in the world. The introduction of AI and economic recovery are acting as backgrounds for the spread of the upward trend, and in terms of liquidity, 2027 could become a more significant issue. He added that there is still demand in the new issuance market, while the conditions for low-quality issuers are deteriorating.
