NDRC Accelerates the Legislative Process for Artificial Intelligence Law

At a press conference, Jiang Yi, director of the Policy Research Office of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), stated that in the first half of the year, China's independent innovation in artificial intelligence has accelerated, with breakthroughs achieved across the industrial chain and multiple links. The parameter scale of open-source large models released by domestic companies has reached the trillion level, and the global download volume of domestic large models has surpassed 10 billion times. The NDRC will coordinate high-quality development with high-level security to promote the rapid and stable development of artificial intelligence. Specific measures include accelerating independent innovation, focusing on cutting-edge areas such as foundational theories of large models, training, and inference efficiency, and strengthening basic research and technological innovation; emphasizing applications by promoting the layout and construction of national artificial intelligence application pilot bases; deepening the ecosystem by cultivating intelligent derivative enterprises, ensuring a dynamic balance between development and security, and further accelerating the legislative process for artificial intelligence law.
