New Cryptocurrency Law in Poland, Strengthening Control of Authorities

The Polish government is planning a new cryptocurrency law that will differ from the previous one by tightening regulations. Adam Szłapka, the government spokesman, indicated that the presidential draft will not be voted on, and the government is preparing its own version, which is to be presented in the coming days. The new law aims to strengthen the control capabilities of authorities regarding the cryptocurrency market. Szłapka emphasized that regulation is necessary because Poland's enemies may use cryptocurrencies to threaten the country's security. There is a likelihood that the president will veto the new draft, as his office prefers more liberal regulations. If the presidential draft is adopted, investors would have to receive mandatory notifications before depositing funds on the exchange, and extending the freeze on bank accounts for suspicious projects would require court approval. Currently, the cryptocurrency industry in Poland may remain unregulated until the end of the year, as the parliament and the president cannot reach an agreement.
