OpenAI ChatGPT Surpasses 1 Billion Global Active Users, Over 2 Million Enterprise Clients

As of the end of July, ChatGPT has surpassed 1 billion global active users, with the number of enterprise clients exceeding 2 million. The number of registered users reached 1 million just 5 days after the launch of ChatGPT, indicating rapid user growth, with projections to surpass 200 million, 500 million, and 800 million users in August 2024, August 2025, and October 2025, respectively. OpenAI anticipated that the user count would exceed 1 billion by the end of last year, after which growth stagnated, with an additional 100 million users taking about 5 months to acquire. OpenAI is enhancing its service competitiveness through GPT-5.6 Sol, the ChatGPT Work agent tool, and the cost-reduced models GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-5.6 Luna. Additionally, OpenAI is advancing the Stargate project in the U.S. with Oracle and SoftBank, and is building data centers in South Korea with Samsung and SK.
