OpenAI Increases Default Context Length of GPT-6.1 Sol to 500,000 Tokens
Tibo Sottiaux, head of OpenAI Codex, announced on the X platform that the default context length for GPT-6.1 Sol has been increased from 272,000 tokens to 500,000 tokens, an increase of approximately 80%. This change helps reduce context compression and is more suitable for tasks that require retaining a large amount of context over extended periods. Users can still adjust this setting, with the maximum context length for GPT-6.1 Sol being 1,000,000 tokens. Further increases to the default context length are planned for the future.
