Palantir CEO Emphasizes AI Companies Should Bear Legal Responsibility
Palantir CEO Alex Karp stated in an interview with CNBC that companies developing and deploying AI systems should be responsible for the consequences of their technology, rather than solely relying on government regulation. In response to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's suggestion to embed third-party safety assessment organizations within AI companies, Karp pointed out that the relevant regulatory mechanisms are complex and require the involvement of technically knowledgeable individuals. He noted that most experts who understand AI are currently employed by specific companies, making it difficult to ensure independence. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that AI companies have a responsibility to ensure product safety, and if they cannot guarantee safety, they should suspend releases until they are adequately prepared.
