In the first half of 2026, the volume of cement exports by rail in Ukraine decreased by 44.6% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 547.3 thousand tons. A total of nearly 1.95 million tons of cement was transported, which is 15.1% less year-on-year. The majority of the shipments were domestic supplies, which reached 1 million 399.3 thousand tons, or 72% of the total, increasing by 7.2% compared to last year. In June 2026, domestic shipments amounted to 356 thousand tons, marking the highest monthly figure in the last three and a half years. The main reasons for the decline in exports include the introduction of a carbon adjustment mechanism for imports, rising electricity costs, and security risks. In the first half of 2026, 74.7 million tons of cargo were transported by rail, which is 6.2% less than in the same period last year.
