Rising Credit Card Delinquency Rates in the U.S. Signal Risks for Bitcoin

The credit card delinquency rate among U.S. households aged 18 to 29 has increased to 10.1% in the second quarter of 2026, reaching its highest level. This marks the highest figure since the first quarter of 2025 and has shown an upward trend for two consecutive quarters. The transition rate for Americans aged 70 and older who are 90 days or more delinquent has also risen to 6.3%, the highest since the third quarter of 2011. Analysts suggest that this credit deterioration could put pressure on risk assets such as Bitcoin. The combination of high interest rates and credit deterioration may weaken investors' risk appetite. Currently, Bitcoin is trading around $84,000, having fallen about 3% over the past week, but has risen more than 7% over the past two weeks. Market analysts mention the possibility of Bitcoin adjusting to $79,000, warning that if it falls below $81,000, there could be increased downward pressure to $75,000. The deterioration of U.S. household credit and high long-term interest rates are identified as variables that could exert pressure on Bitcoin prices.
