Solana Network REV Surpasses $1 Million, Reaches Six-Month High
The daily network REV of Solana (SOL) surpassed $1 million on August 19, marking its highest level in six months. This figure is based on network REV generated during the use of block space and is distinct from application revenue. Blockworks Research defines REV as the sum of on-chain transaction fees and off-protocol tips, reflecting the relationship between network usage and fees. Amid a recovery trend in Solana's activity that began in July, Solana's application revenue in July was $82.9 million, accounting for a 16.5% share of total tracked chain network revenue. On August 4, Solana's daily DApp revenue reached $4.44 million, also a six-month high. While the increase in network REV is a separate indicator from application revenue recovery, it is related to increased ecosystem activity. Solana's fee structure has a base fee of 5,000 lamports per signature, with 50% being burned and the remaining 50% going to validators. On July 18, Solana ranked first in daily network revenue among all blockchains, with 1.72 million active addresses and 72.6 million transactions. The August update document announced a phased reduction of slot time from 400 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds. The REV increase on August 19 is interpreted as a network usage indicator, and the impact of revenue metric improvements on staking yields or SOL supply must be assessed considering fee composition and validator rewards.
