Sony is set to launch a stablecoin in the United States. Sony Financial Group has announced the opening of a trust subsidiary, Sony Bank, for the issuance and management of stablecoins in U.S. dollars. This initiative aims to establish a sustainable business foundation for Sony's digital asset activities. Sony Bank has submitted an application to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and has received conditional approval. However, no commercial activities, including the issuance of stablecoins, will commence until all necessary approvals are obtained, including final approval from the OCC. The stablecoin market is currently valued at $307.64 billion, dominated by Tether's USDT, which accounts for $184.2 billion.
