Strategy Company Denies $5 Billion Bitcoin Sale

By: rootdata|2026/08/02 12:35:50

Michael Saylor, chairman of Strategy, dismissed rumors about the company's alleged $5 billion Bitcoin sale, stating that the news is outdated and a misinterpretation of the company's financial plan. The figure of $5 billion was derived from the company's capital plan released on June 29, 2026, which includes $1.25 billion to bolster cash reserves, $1 billion for repurchasing preferred shares, $1 billion for repurchasing common shares, and approximately $1.76 billion for dividend payments and interest expenses. This plan does not impose any obligation to sell Bitcoin. Saylor emphasized that the company has never had an official policy of "never selling Bitcoin." He had previously stated the famous phrase "never sell your Bitcoin" in 2025, but this is his personal view. The CEO of Strategy also mentioned that limited Bitcoin sales could be part of the company's financial management tools. Financial statistics indicate that Strategy purchased 85,296 Bitcoins in the second quarter and sold only 1,395 Bitcoins. The company's Bitcoin holdings have grown by 11% to approximately 846,000 Bitcoins, making it one of the largest institutional holders of BTC in the world.
