U.S. institutional trading has increased, but spot prices remain lower than those overseas. As of 1:40 PM on August 20, the Coinbase premium was -0.0203%, indicating a reduction in the discount compared to five days ago, yet U.S. prices are still not expensive. The trading volume on Coinbase Prime, an institutional-only trading platform, reached 16,757.13 BTC on August 19, marking a 227.0% increase from the previous day, with a 24-hour trading volume of approximately $327.97 million. The CFTC's CME Bitcoin futures leveraged fund positions as of August 11 showed 4,997 long positions and 12,049 short positions, with shorts being 2.4 times the longs. The VIX stood at 14.89 as of August 19, indicating a downward trend, which suggests that the pressure from stock market volatility on the crypto market has weakened. The dollar index slightly decreased to 98.82, while the yield on U.S. 10-year Treasury bonds remains at 4.71%. Currently, the U.S. market is seeing active institutional trading, but the enthusiasm for spot buying has not fully recovered.
