Tone Vays Warns Influencers After Hacker Attack During Interview
Tone Vays, a Bitcoin investor, had his computer hacked while participating in a fake interview via Microsoft Teams. He granted control permissions to the attackers during screen sharing. Vays acknowledged the mistake, stating, "I was an idiot." The attack is similar to one that previously occurred with Zoom. With 1,800 videos on his YouTube channel, Vays is a respected analyst, yet he fell victim to a social engineering scam. He warned other influencers about the incident, detailing that a group impersonated a YouTube channel and recorded an interview with him. Vays showed a screenshot of a trojan that monitored his keystrokes and immediately disconnected the internet, formatting the PC upon realizing the mistake. He decided that from now on, he will only give interviews to acquaintances and will avoid software that needs to be downloaded, preferring browser-based options like Google Meet. Vays does not store Bitcoin information on his computer and never saves passwords in the Google manager. He emphasized that hackers often exploit human vulnerability to carry out attacks.
