UEFA announced that its 55 national teams will not participate in FIFA competitions as long as the project to privatize World Cup rights, driven by Gianni Infantino, remains in place. This decision exacerbates the conflict in international football and threatens scheduled tournaments. The first competition affected is the Women's U-20 World Cup in Poland, taking place from September 5 to 27, with six European teams qualified. The UEFA Women's World Cup playoffs in October, which include England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, will also be affected. In the men's category, the U-17 World Cup in Qatar, scheduled for November, will also be impacted, with participation from Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The measure will extend to the 2030 World Cup, the Women's World Cup in Brazil 2027, and the Men's U-20 World Cup in 2027 in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Additionally, Europeans would withdraw from futsal and beach football competitions. UEFA would also pull out of the new Club World Cup, scheduled for 2029.
