Visa Acquires BioCatch for $2.4 Billion to Combat Fraud
Visa has entered into an agreement to acquire BioCatch, a company specializing in fraud detection using artificial intelligence, for $2.4 billion in cash. The deal is being executed with funds managed by Permira and other shareholders. The transaction is expected to close in the second financial quarter of 2027. BioCatch collaborates with over 350 banking institutions worldwide. The acquisition is linked to the rise of digital threats, as fraud costs the global economy more than $1 trillion annually. BioCatch's technologies will help prevent fraud before payment is made, utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze consumer behavior. Visa is also actively investing in services to ensure transaction security. Recently, the company reported earnings that exceeded analysts' expectations and raised its annual revenue growth forecast, despite cutting around 2,600 jobs. The deal with BioCatch marks a new phase in the development of trust systems in digital banking.
