xAI Releases Grok 4.7 with 2.1 Trillion Parameters, Benchmarking Behind Claude
xAI has released Grok 4.7, increasing its parameter scale to 2.1 trillion, a 40% increase from Grok 4.6's 1.5 trillion. Grok 4.7 introduces Grok applications, Cursor, Grok Build, and the xAI API, with input and output prices set at $2 and $6 per million tokens, respectively. xAI has incorporated SpaceX to supplement training data, aiming to enhance the model's reasoning capabilities regarding hardware and physical systems. In benchmark tests, Grok 4.7 ranked second in GDPval and AA-Briefcase, scoring 1695 and 1657, respectively, both trailing behind Claude Fable 5.1's scores of 1735 and 1678. In the electrical engineering benchmark EEBench, it also ranked second, only behind GPT-6 Astra. CursorBench 4.0 indicates that Grok 4.7's task costs are higher than those of GPT-6 Astra and Claude Sonnet 5, while its overall performance still lags behind Fable 5.1. Musk stated that Grok 4.7 is roughly on par with Claude Opus 5.0 but has not yet reached the level of Opus 5.1, with Grok 4.8, 4.9, and Grok 5 currently in development.
