Zero Trading Volume for 100 Altcoins on Kobit and Coinone
More than 100 altcoins listed on Kobit and Coinone did not see any trading over the course of a day. As of 2 PM on the 8th, out of over 190 virtual assets supported for trading on Kobit, more than 80 had a 24-hour trading volume of zero, while on Coinone, around 130 out of 360 also recorded zero trading volume. Even excluding duplicate listings on the two exchanges, the number of altcoins that ceased trading exceeded 100. In contrast, there were no altcoins with zero trading volume in the won market of Upbit and Bithumb. Coins that did not trade remained at their last transaction price, with price differences between exchanges reaching up to 19.8%. For instance, one altcoin on Upbit had a 24-hour trading volume of 428.34 million won, while it was only 5,000 won on Kobit. The lower the trading volume of a coin, the more significant the price fluctuations can be with small orders, and slippage can also increase. The industry points to a lack of liquidity as a problem, analyzing that the structure makes it difficult for exchanges to directly engage in trading, which is a cause of the decline in trading volume. Kobit and Coinone waived trading fees for all assets since the end of last month, but it seems there are limits to activating altcoin trading.
